Clubhouse Jams in June
Last Friday the Clubhouse took another awesome adventure into Cambridge. Thanks to Computer Clubhouse mentor and volunteer Muazzez, Clubhouse members were able to visit the control center for Nasa’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. The Chandra telescope allows scientists from around the world to obtain X-ray images of exotic environments to help understand the structure and evolution of the universe. Dr. Michael Juda gave Clubhouse members and mentors a tour around the facilities. He walked us through the production of the Chandra X-ray Telescope and we were then able to see the control room where Nasa workers were checking the health of the telescope. It was an incredible learning experience that youth and mentors will remember long into the future.
Last week Our Space Our Place came for a visit to the Clubhouse. Our Space Our Place prepare blind youth for their future as productive and successful adults by promoting their self confidence, determination and social and independent living skills through activities which support self exploration of college and career opportunities. During their visit one of their youth, Rakime produced an awesome and catchy jam that we’ve been playing around the Clubhouse. Check it out here:
